Most people gain few pounds after the holiday season is over. Luckily, these extra pounds can be easily removed if you follow the right tips. The following is a shortlist of tips that have proven to be really easy and helpful.

1. Eliminate the leftovers

The holiday season doesn’t last very long, but the leftovers from the festive meals will be there for the next few days. This is certainly not good for your shape because you will be tempted to eat those tasty leftovers. In order to solve this problem share what’s left from your food with your friends, family or the local soup kitchen. Besides taking care of your shape and reducing the chance to gain weight you will do a good deed.

2. Check your priority list

Even during the holidays your health should be on the first place on the list of priorities. If you got carried away with the atmosphere (when it comes to food) don’t skip your fitness routine and physical activity. No matter if you have consumed food that is way above your average calorie intake take some time (at least 30 minutes) to take a walk, visit the gym or yoga/pilates class. On the other hand, you don’t have to follow the traditions and do the same type of meals like everyone else – include some healthy meals on the menu.

3. Hire a personal trainer

The days when personal trainers were something that only few people could afford are long gone. Having a personal trainer is not a luxury especially when we take a look at the importance of health in modern society. In case you have a limited budget, you can always ask for a professional advice or spend some money to hire a personal trainer for a limited period of time. Most professional personal trainers will give you guidelines that will help you continue you with your workout routine even without their help. In this way you can be sure that you are doing the right exercises in the right way.

4. Forget about delivery services

Instead of ordering pizza or other not very healthy meals, try to make a healthier choice. You don’t even have to be a great cook in order to improve your diet. There are many healthy snacks, dried fruit, nuts and other healthy foods that can help you get rid of those extra pounds and boost your energy level.

5. Get a dog

Even if you don’t want to have a dog because you consider that it requires commitment or you don’t have the necessary conditions, you can always get a dog from your neighbors or friends for a while. You can also take their dog for a walk when needed. There are no compromises when it comes to dogs and you can’t simply sit on the sofa for the whole day when you have a dog. You need to take the dog for a walk at least three times a day.
